August 23, 2007 44 pit bulls were seized from Michael Vick. They had been raised to fight. After massive media campaigns, direct involvement with the court, and campaigns on the Best Friends website, 22 of the dogs were awarded to Best Friends. The court ordered Michael Vick to pay $18,275.00 per dog, Best Friends recieved $402,050.00 total for the dogs long-term care. January 2, 2008 they arrived at the Kanab Sanctuary .

HISTORY:
The founders purchased 2,269 acres in the canyons of Utah in 1984. That area is now called Angel Canyon and is the home of Best Friends Animal Society.
It wasn't until 1993 that Best Friends was incorporated as a non-profit corporation.

Best Friends should never have air time! They do indeed have hidden agendas and do not care about helping all animals! They turn animals away that are in need of a place to stay and they accept only those they can make headlines with! My husband works there and is in a higher position job, he has shared with me plenty of what goes on! They have millions in the bank, they have employees that are in the cult “Process church” that are on payroll, but do not work there; they have their Temple on the grounds, but employees are told not to mention it, and if volunteers ask about it, they are to say it is a house! Examine the fingers of the founders, you will notice they all still wear the cult ring on it. I could go into a lot of detail about BFAS, but I really just would like to see everyone who loves animals take their money and give it to organizations that are wanting to help educate pet owners and find homes for all the wonderful pets out there without putting dogs and cats at the risk of extinction! They are so many wonderful groups that truly do care about making this a better world for all of us and do not just put up a front for visitors. Please turn your money and time and exposure into helping these organizations!
Best Friends wants National Attention for all that they do and they want no responsible breeders to be able to supply puppies for the demand of purebred dogs. I was proud to tell one of the founders that I was a responsible breeder of “Mini-Schnauzers” and Mini-Doxies”,when my husband was hired, and I was told by my husband I could no longer have my pets! Needless to say, I have since left Kanab and have escaped the hold the cult has on my husband, and if you knew my husband before Best Friends and knew him now, you would definitely agree, “He has been processed”!
